From youth I admired molosses - i. d. Naples mastin, mastiff, etc. But from purchase of this breed discouraged me their character - hard, and concerning my approach to the dogs absolutely impossible to keep these breeds. The female is anything else, she is imposing, beautiful, high - bred and she hashuman features, she is perfectly feasible by affectionate approach. Additionally I am a big admirer ofhorses - of Arabian full-blooded horses, which have a similar scope at first appearance. My first female I have bought from hard saved finances - from first payments after finishing of the high school. It was against the will of my family. Additionally I bought a female which was one year old and she wasn't breeding according to the FCI standards - P4 failed her on both sides in the upper jaw. She came from the first experimental litter of blue doggas in Czech and her name was Bonna.
For me she was the most beautiful dog in the world. I took her home, so that the family didn't know and after establishment of the fact it couldn't ´t be done anything actually. I must make a clean breast that I begun to have big troubles, because in that time i.e. approximately 30 years ago there was no possibility of an access to feeding as today. Every day after work I had to hunt for meat, vegetables etc. hard andcook. Furthermore walks, acquaintance - it wasn't easy because of the character which has this dog. Today after experiences I never would take an adult dogga, an ideal is since puppy, the character isn't disrupted and in addition you know your dog perfectly - I think that the contact is completely different then.
After this blue Bona I hadn´t another within 15 years, only then I had the material conditions for it. Immediately I contact Mr. Langmajer, long-time breeder and chairmen of the club of German doggas in the Czech Republic and because I always liked the black doggas, I have bought black female Zita - after father Vaun von Beelen and Ypsa v. d. Hochwiessen - so absolutely from German blood. I begun to go to exhibitions and I wanted - as everyone probably - to win, because our small Zita appeared as the most beautiful in the world for me. She was very nice else, but her back function - i.e. mechanic sorted her between very well always. I remember how much it has exasperated us.
In this time I knew the standard and the fact what I would conceive I have bought to this female a black dog after very nice female Utte Velan after world winner Ike Velan and after father Ilko Schilo Ranch from Germany. And in this way the breeding station BOHEMIA ABRUS was born.
The covering dogs I choose according to the exterior. Pedigree of the dog and knowledge of minimal 3 generations of the ancestors is pivotal for me. The experiences of some great breeders from the Czech Republic and Germany have helped me very much, they always have advised. In the breeding the quality breeding females are important for me - not only from the point of view of exterior, but of blood lines too. A perfect breeding female is 60 per cent of the success of quality descendants. Naturally it is morecomplicated, because very important is, if the female is homozygote or heterozygote. It is very helpful for me, when the first covering of the female is with dominant dog / I mean genetic way. I can say that nearly always the second breeding on the female is more successful. Next factor, very important, is the similarity of the type by dog and female. I don't choose the covering dog by carried titles on principle; I use a dog, which is from the point of view of blood and exterior good for me.
The best litter - or breeding I don't appreciate according to the one individual high appreciated on the exhibitions, but according to equability of the type and quality of all individuals in the litter. Inbreeding is very good for successes on the exhibitions, but in the future it is very hard to breed on these individuals, even though I know very successful breeders, which can work with inbreeding, mainly in Italy and France. But I am not a stickler for this, mainly with long-time prospect of genetic potential and health of the breed. When I use it, then only in the case that it is the only possibility how to keep the specific blood line.
Review from the beauty exhibition isn't fully authoritative for me. On every exhibition criticizes your dogga in the person of reviewer a subject - which has his own notion, which come together with FCI standard in the basic view else but its interpretation is very specific. For me it is very important that the dogga is noble and compact at first appearance. I prefer the elegant type, with adequate head, parallel lines of the front and nose part, dry neck, good angling and good mechanic.
On the beauty exhibitions we meet different types of showing, I prefer naturalness - the European way of showing, when the individual appears most natural and we can see its advantages and disadvantages. If I could change anything in this system - then - and it doesn't concern all exhibitions - the conditions, which are sometimes near the limit of the health not only for the dogs, but for the owners too.
I don't tremble for the future of breed, because though all negations, which are in the breed, interventions of the individuals and FCI member countries, there are many quality and reasonable breeders, which (I believe) will do everything for the good thing, that these beautiful animals will not degenerate. I would like to say with this - the club officials and regulations change, but the breed remain. If I had the force and possibilities, I surely would change the accession to the breeding of this breed. The creation of EU DDC, how it is conceived, will resolve nothing in my opinion. On the contrary with its strict criterions it disables breeders to use breeding individuals according to their own conviction more and more. This can solve some health problems, but impoverishes the genetic variability of the breed on the contrary, which is the basic for healthy breed too. I begrudge American breeders a little - there it is allowed to use yellowindividual in black breeding experimental. And one more personal wish - comeback of ears cropping in standard of German dogga in the Czech Republic at least.
In conclusion I would like to greet not only all breeders but supporters of this noble breed too and wish them not only breeding successes but mainly long and beautiful lived out of years with their darlings.
